Gold is a classic from Alfaliquid made with classic blond and vanilla flavourings. The maker places the blond as the opening note and at the heart, with vanilla as the base note. The 10 ml ready-to-vape bottle comes in 70/30 PG/VG only, at five nicotine strengths of 0, 3, 6, 12 and 16 mg/ml. It ships with a dropper tip, handy for filling a pod with a narrow fill port.
That single ratio fixes the kit. Alfaliquid reserves Alfaliquid Gold for mesh coils above 0.6 ohm and standard coils above 0.8 ohm, in other words for the tight draw of MTL pods and tanks.

In FR-One and Saharian, vanilla takes the heart of the draw, ahead of an almond or walnut note. California blends it with coconut in the base, behind a peanut heart.
Gold is the only one of these four in which vanilla is the sole companion of the blond, and in the base. That makes it the most restrained of the vanilla blonds whose grid the maker publishes, the one where the classic stays easiest to read.
American, another vanilla blond from the same maker, is left out of this table. Alfaliquid does not publish its opening, heart and base grid, so its vanilla cannot be placed with the same precision.
When in the day to vape Gold
A rounded classic is not vaped in quite the same way as a dry blond. Its longer finish takes up more of the palate, which for many people makes it a liquid for chosen moments rather than for every moment.
The moments when you take your time, at the end of the day or after a meal, suit it well. The softness of the vanilla fits there, without the weariness it can bring when repeated from morning to night.
Some vapers rotate two bottles for that reason, a dry blond for the day and Gold for the evening. The rotation keeps the palate from getting used to the vanilla, which then keeps its full effect.

With only one ratio available, choosing the kit is quick. What matters then is looking after it with the vanilla in mind.
MTL pod or tank, higher-resistance coil
The 70/30 calls for an MTL pod or tank with a coil above the values given by the maker. A tight draw concentrates the vapour and lets the vanilla settle in the finish, where the recipe puts it.
UK rules cap refillable tanks and pods at 2 ml, so a 10 ml bottle covers five fills. With a vanilla liquid that is also a practical rhythm for checking the state of the coil.
There is no 50/50 version of Gold. For a sub-ohm mod, Alfaliquid generally recommends 50/50 liquids, which rules this classic out of that kind of kit.
Moderate wattage and a watchful eye on the coil
Too much power can increase the tendency of vanilla to caramelise on the wire. Stay towards the bottom of the range printed on the coil, particularly on a fresh one.
Keep spare coils to hand as well. With a vanilla liquid, replacing them a little earlier than with a dry blond keeps the balance between the blond and the vanilla.
That leaves the tank itself. Traces of vanilla liquid in the glass or the chimney keep scenting the next fill and muddy the reading of a dry blond poured in afterwards. A rinse in warm water, followed by thorough drying, sorts it out.

No. Some shops list that strength, but the page from the maker limits Gold to five strengths, from 0 to 16 mg/ml. When in doubt, the Alfaliquid page settles it.
Are Gold and American the same liquid?
No, even though the maker describes both as a classic blond with vanilla. American comes in 70/30 or 50/50 and goes up to 19.6 mg/ml in 70/30, while Gold stays in 70/30 up to 16 mg/ml. Is Gold sold in a 50 ml bottle?
